Prayers of protection

You know how as mothers we spend a lot of time praying for the safety of our children? I got to experience first hand an answer to that prayer while we were camping this past weekend. We were gathered around the campfire with our friends Sunday night having a little 'fireside and testimony meeting' since we had missed church. After it was over Luke got up off my lap and walked in front of Kevin. Kevin stood up at the same time, while holding a sleeping Ethan, and bumped into Luke, who then tripped on a rock and sent himself flying towards the firepit. Only by the grace of God did my little man not end up in the pit itself! We all thought for sure at least his hands had fallen into it trying to stop himself. I rushed him over to the water cooler to run cold water on him and he stopped me saying he hadn't been burnt, just scared to death. When we woke up the next morning and I had better light to inspect him I discovered he had bumped his wrist on the side of the pit and had gotten burned a little bit. He said it never really hurt.

That was a miracle and an answer to my prayers I will forever be thankful for. It could have ended so much worse! The poor little guy shook from fear until I had him calmed down and tucked nice and snug in his sleeping bag.

(and, just as a disclaimer, the picture of the fire was taken the night before. I did not grab my camera and snap a picture of my kid almost falling into the pit :D )

OH MY! That must have been very scary. I'm so glad that he was okay.
